Tynemouth North Pier Bay, North Tyneside
Great location for coastal photography, Tynemouth North Pier/Bay is fantastic for those dramatic long exposure and mono shots. I went at sunset, however as it's on the east coast it is most defiantly a sunrise location. From other images that I've seen online, it is worth waking up early for. I also imagine it would be great in stormy conditions with the waves crashing over the pier, or in a morning mist with rays of light protruding from the lighthouse. Remember to explore both sides of the pier. You can get some great perspectives of the pier on the northern side (access onto the beach is via steps but only accessible at low tide).
There's lots to see and capture in the area; the pier being the obvious example but also an isolated shot of the lighthouse, passing boats coming down the Tyne to the sea and the ancient priory and castle within walking distance.
If you want to walk along the pier remember its access is shut at 4pm or in hazardous conditions.
