Talybont-on-Usk, Powys, Wales
The valley containing the reservoir holds a number of fantastic photo opportunities in all kinds of conditions. Sunrises are best due to the facing hilltops catching the early light. Further up the valley are a number of waterfalls which, while they are a bit of a walk from the car park, are worthwhile making the trek to. As the area is quite remote I would advise against leaving any valuables in view in parked cars.
From the tourist info website:
Talybont-on-Usk is a very attractive village in the Usk Valley, it is in an excellent location for walking and ideal for relaxing and enjoying the peace and scenery. From the village there is easy access up onto the Black Mountains or the Brecon Beacons. (It is possible to walk from Talybont onto the Beacons) The head of the Talybont-on-Usk Valley above the reservoir is very attractive with the Blaen-y-Glyn waterfalls and many excellent walks up the ridges to the peaks of the Brecon Beacons.
