Stowe Landscape Gardens - Palladian Bridge

fen_snapz's picture

Incredible location if you like contrived landscapes and follys! These landscape gardens are maintained by the national trust and have some amazing grounds. Lots of potential for flower shots and long landscapes, but ultimately the follies are what you will be drawn to. The whole place was designed by Lancelot Capability Brown.

There is ultimately the Palladian bridge, which is an incredible piece of architecture. A gothic Temple which can be hired as a holiday rental. Grecian areas with temples, bridges An arc shaped wall with the busts of poets, monuments, Corinthian Arches, ruins, caves and so much more.

There is definitely something of appeal to everyone here. Best time to visit would be Autumn when the beautiful Autumnal colours are reflected in the many waterways.

Walking the full area can be quite tiring, it is a lot larger than Stourhead but very much on a Similar theme.
