Stanage Edge, Peak District, Derbyshire

Carbonbianchi's picture

There area number of 'Edges' in this area. The biggest and perhaps most well known is Stanage but there's also Curbar, Baslow and Froggett nearby. Each is an escarpment of gritstone with loads of rock features to photograph. They used to mine and cut millstones for windmills locally once upon a time and you can still see discarded millstones littered around which make good foreground interest.

Wildlife photographers will be able to photograph red grouse, curlew and hares on the moors which run right up to the Edges.
