Samson, Isles of Scilly

rgee's picture

If you find yourself on the Isles of Scilly, particularly St Mary's, facing west at sunset means the sun in the later summer months sets over Samson Island, an uninhabited part of Scilly. It's a pretty iconic view and with a subject between you and the sun, stopping down a stop or two means you can create some interesting silhouettes. You can walk about and shoot this from a hill somewhere, or go down on a beach and shoot it low with water in the foreground. The tide doesn't really effect a long shot, however a wide angle shot at high tide would be nice as you'll get some nice colors reflecting.
