Penarth Pier

Penarth Pier is an old Victorian pier, now in need of repair, but it's still open and is a great spot for photography. There are lots of shots to be had both on and off the pier (from the road or even from below on Penarth beach). The wooden decking looks great, especially if you shoot from low to capture the detail of the grain. The benches, lights and handrails make good foreground subjects whilst the pavilion is interesting architecturally. The pier is a popular spot for fishing, incidentally fishermen make great candid subjects. Sunrise is a great time to visit as it rises over the sea, in front of the pier. Alternatively dusk is also a nice time to visit as the yellow lighting complements sunset colour tones.
