Newcastle/Gateshead Quayside

This place is a photographers dream. Beautiful 19th Century buildings and nearby streets, 5 stunning bridges and a number of new buildings such as The Sage music Centre. There is something to shoot up and down both sides of the river and they are all easily accessible thanks to the many bridges as mentioned. Best shooting times are sunrise/sunset and especially nighttime. The quayside can be very busy through the daytime especially on a Sunday when the Newcastle side has a traditional market right along from the Tyne Bridge to the Millennium Bridge. It is also busy at the weekend at night as there are many bars nearby and some located on the Quaysides. Composition wise if you head down river maybe 1/4 - 1/2 mile from the Tyne Bridge near the Ouseburn outlet you can shoot all bridges in line. This is especially excellent at night due to the lighting mainly on the Millennium Bridge which runs through a cycle of colours in its arch and is also lit underneath. There are also good shots to be had from the High Level Bridge where you get an aerial view of the whole area including the Baltic and Sage buildings hugging the Gateshead riverbank. Sunrise wise the sun rises and sets at each end of the river respectively so is ideal for that type of shot.
