The National Waterways Museum, Ellesmere port

macuser's picture

"With its stunning location on the banks of the Mersey and the Manchester Ship Canal, extensive in-door displays, boat trips and historic buildings, the Museum is a great day out where time slows down and history comes to life."

This photo-location provides the unique opportunity for photographers to step back in time and capture traditional scenes that would of been common over 100 years ago, unbelievably part of the museum is still a working boat yard. Often photographers are put off from visiting museums; poor lighting and too busy with tourist, however this museum is different. Lighting isn't a problem as much is outside, and I found it is relatively quiet. There is a huge array of shots to be taken of many interesting subjects. It would appeal to a wide range of photographic styles; fantastic for industrial architectural photography, but also for interesting close-ups and candid photography. It's an inexpensive visit as car parking is free and admission is very reasonable: Adults £5, Child £4 and Concessions £5.
