Fairy Pools, Allt Coir a Mhadaidh, Skye

sharpeimages's picture

A hidden gem, the Fairy Pools are a series of clear pools and waterfalls formed as Allt Coir' a' Mhadaidh tumbles down from the foothills of the Black Cuillins into Glen Brittle. The location of the Pools beneath the looming the Cuillins, drama of the waterfalls and the sinuous beauty of the rock formations carved by the falling water give the Fairy Pools a magical feel.

The Fairy Pools has to be one of my favourite photographic locations. On the overcast, misty, drizzly day that we were there I wasn't the only person to suggest that this location was a close to being in Mordor as one could possible wish. I was wet, standing in freezing cold water, being bitten to death my midges, I've seldom been happier.

Location is suitable for the following types of photography

CarbostIsle of Skye, Highland
United Kingdom
