Durham Bandstand, River Wear
Location: the bandstand along the riverside in Durham. This location is suitable for a variety of photographic styles; great for light painting with wire wool or LEDs, landscape and sports photography. The bandstand is a great backdrop for lighting painting, whilst the nearby cricket fields and river (rowing is popular in Durham) are suited to sports photography. On a frosty winters morning with a mist over the River Wear, a lone rower and the bandstand in the background it becomes a really picturesque scene.
For free parking spaces drive down Green Lane, (see map) toward the end pass the cricket club car park and turn left into it. As soon as you get through the gate head right and follow the track round and park up behind the rowing club. (You can't miss it, it's the only building down there). Head through the steel gate to follow the path along the riverside to the bandstand, the statue of the bull (see 2nd image) and further down, the derelict baths house
