Blackrock Cottage, Glencoe, Scotland

Philthebath's picture

Blackrock Cottage with Buchaille Etive Mor in the background is an iconic, must visit photography location. It can be visited all year round however looks at its best with a dusting of snow and some cloud wrapped around the mountain. A large boulder lies on the ground in front of the cottage and can be used to add foreground interest and balance to the composition.

I saw the cloud developing and used the vapour trails from 2 jets to make an interesting composition.

I stayed at the kings house hotel nearby which is perfect for ramblers and photographers alike.

To get an idea of the present weather conditions & snow cover check out the Glencoe Ski Center's webcams.

One of the most famous photography locations in the UK. The cottage is about 1.5 miles south-east of the Kingshouse Hotel, and about half a mile from the A82, on the access road to White Corries ski area. There is parking space for up to 5 cars outside the cottage. The Glasgow - Fort William bus stops on request at the junction of the A82 and the ski area access road.

Thank you! I also know some free places, but it's also important to remember about this-
