Aldeburgh Scallop

fen_snapz's picture

A very interesting location at Aldeburgh on the Suffolk Coast, this sculpture celebrates the work of Benjamin Britten, a composer, and features a lyric from one of his Compositions - Peter Grimes. It reads "I hear those voices that will not be drowned"

This is a fantastic location at both sunrise and sunset, capturing sunset against the lettering though will render the writing backwards. This is a sculpture that you can stand on, crawl under or sit on to look at the sea, and is very popular. It gives opportunity for closeup work, or views along the sea using DOF.

Nearby is the very quaint town of Aldeburgh with lots of places to eat, buildings with timber framing. And on the horizon is another landmark  "the house in the clouds" which is  a must see house, sticking up into the sky, on a big red stilt type structure.
