Abbey Gatehouse, Cornworthy, South Devon

Terry's picture

This is a ruined gatehouse which once belonged to a small Augustinian nunnery and dates from C. 1400. Easily accessible just off the road, a few yards into the field, however getting to the location will involve about 5 miles along narrow Devon country lanes from the nearest town of Totnes.

Photographic potential - views of the village of Cornworthy and its church through the arch - would be great with some early morning autumn mists for atmosphere. Also an ideal subject for night photography and light-painting/washing.
