The ruins of the Magpie lead mines are a good visit for pretty much any weather conditions, I think the ruins lend themselves to bright sunny days, gloomy skies and sunrise/sunset.

Bradgate park is an historic Mediaeval deer park in the heart of the ancient Charnwood Forest. One of my favourite places....but I pick my times carefully as it gets very busy and very noisy at times!!!

Abbey Park is about a 15 minute walk from Leicester City Centre or there are several buses which pass close by. There is free street parking for 1 or 2 hours nearby.

Lochmaben Castle stands on a low headland projecting into the Castle Loch, a spot which formerly was an island. The ruins are extensive, but most of the dressed sandstone has been robbed over the years, leaving crumbling rubble.

Finchale Priory is situated in a scenic spot on the banks of the River Wear. Extensive remains of the 13th century priory still remain.

Lots of interesting photographic compositions to be had, the undercroft is particularly special.

A virtually complete Castle, this castle has a full working Moat, with drawbridge access and portcullis, all intact. Superb location for sunset and sunrise shots as it is picturesque from all sides, particularly beautiful in Winter.

Lovely location with great grounds and gardens, a medieval castle with moat. Best views are those over the waterway towards the castle, making the most of the stunning reflections in the moat.

I'm not very good at these things,  but I'll do my best.  Having only visited the location once I can't really provide too much detail either.

This iconic tree was used as a location in the film Robin Hood Prince of thieves, and is a notable point in the midst of Hadrians Wall. There are a couple of car-parks close by, but both will require a walk with some upward climbs.
