Lyveden New Bield, Oundle

Almost deserted during the week, Lyveden New Bield is a fascinating skeleton of a house that was never completed. Originally designed as a banqueting house in the 16th Century, it is surrounded by wildflower meadows, the remains of a sculptural gardens of mounds, moat and maze, and a recently replanted orchard.

Carnoustie, Angus

You can visit this location from sunrise to sunset. I prefer a dry day with a mixture of sun and cloud, but it is a good place to be regardless of the weather. As well as the waterfront there is also a playpark, so if you want, you can make it into a family day out. Would recommend a warm jacket, as sometimes the wind is really strong.

The National Arboretum

Great all year round, popular in autumn for spectacular colours. Great for textures, close ups and detailed shots. Walking boots and outdoor all weather gear recommended. Good food facilities on site but good local pubs in Tetbury. Plenty of B & B's nearby.
