Upper Neuadd Reservoir, Brecon Beacons

I believe the area around this reservoir offers some of the best views of Pen-y-fan, the highest peak in the Brecon Beacons. Admittedly it is a bit of a hike from the nearest car park some 2 miles to the south but the walking is easy, most of it on tarmac roads. In the area of the reservoir itself the ground can be quite boggy due to the peat and the amount of rain the area gets so be careful where you place your feet, it's a good idea to stick to well defined tracks.

I visited this location for the first time last week. The lighting was excellent, the low midday sunlight illuminated the surrounding hills in a beautiful glow. The dusting of snow was an added bonus, for these reasons I would definitely recommend visiting during the winter months. The walk was as stated in the description, fairly easy, mostly along a tarmac road. The dam is currently surrounded in scaffolding (Dec - 2013) - still plenty to photograph.
